New research paper published!

January 27, 2025

We are pleased to announce that our team at the University of Sussex has published their newest paper 'High prevalence of veterinary drugs in bird's nests' in the journal STOTEN.

The paper investigated the nests of blue and great tits and tested for a number of pesticides. This research showed that 100% of nests were contaminated with pesticides that are commonly used in flea and tick treatments for domestic pets. Nests that had a higher concentration of pesticides also had a higher number of unhatched eggs and dead chicks. For more information on what the lead author Canelle Tassin de Montaigu has to say, read our blog, our press release and to discover the other results of this study, click here.

The research was featured in the Guardian newspaper. Read the story.
