What you can do to help:

This Spring, 3 simple actions can help your cat’s wellbeing and stop them bringing in wildlife too.

March and April are particularly vulnerable time for songbirds, as birds gather materials to make their nests, fledgling birds leave their nests and birds take riskier behaviour to gather food to feed their young.

You can help care for your cat and help wildlife by:

  • Playing with your cat. Playing with your cat for 5-10 minutes every day can make a huge difference. Simulating hunting can be a great game for cats, and those who play brought home 25% less prey!
  • Feeding them well. Feeding your cat premium, meat rich food is good for their diet and also reduces prey brought home by 36%.
  • Keeping them in. Keeping your cat in between dusk and dawn isn’t just a sure-fire way to protect wildlife who are more active at these times, but your cat too. Over 600 cats a day are thought to be hit by cars, which can’t happen if they’re safely tucked up in bed.
